Kalawit, Zamboanga del Norte- The Local Government Unit of Kalawit, Zamboanga del Norte celebrated its 25th Founding Anniversary last February 10 - 12, 2015. The highlight of the 3-day celebration was the conduct of Job Fair held at the Municipal Gymnasium of Kalawit, Zamboanga del Norte.

The guest of honor during the event was the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Director, Sisinio B. Cano, CESO IV who expressed his appreciation to the officials of LGU - Kalawit for their full support to the programs and services of DOLE. According to Dir. Cano, the DOLE was able to release at least P 2.5 million worth of program intervention through livelihood projects and employment facilitation. He also assured the continuous support of the DOLE to Kalawitnons for the years to come.

Philippine Overseas Employment Administration REU-9 (POEA-REU 9) Head, Ms. Marietta Bellotindos was also present during the event. She explained to the job seekers who are seeking overseas employment to transact only with the legal recruitment agencies and presented the ways to identify illegal recruiters. Ms. Bellotindos also announced that there were 8, 320 job orders available from the seven (7) recruitment agencies present in the Job Fair.

The job fair was able to register 81 job seekers, interviewed 31, with 23 qualified. The interview with the applicants resulted to 12 applicants Hired on the Spot. The job fair is in coordination with the PESO-Kalawit, thru PESO Manager Dolores C. Cadil. (end)
